Many internet marketers don’t appreciate the differences between mini sites and authority sites in terms of strategies and results. Usually it is the newer people to online business who sometimes wonder which is best to build. You really need to consider a variety of factors, including the kind of business you want to build and the way Google and other search engines operate.
The bottom line, though, is it all depends on a person’s overall goal, strategy, and individual preferences. Authority sites and mini sites both have certain features to recommend them, and we’ll be looking at some of these below.
One opinion is that you can profit faster if you build mini sites. This technique can work in some cases. Yet, to think this way all the time can limit your possibilities in the long run. You could then put up a dozen or more mini sites, each based on one of these micro niches. If everything is right, and your research is solid, then you will rank for them fairly quickly. Don’t forget, though, that Google is not very fond of this strategy.
If you want to please Google, you have to stay current with its latest algorithms, the formulas it uses to rank sites based on quality and other factors. If you listen to what it’s been saying recently, you can be sure that mini sites are considered less valuable than sites with more valuable content, i.e. authority sites. Ranking highly with a mini site, then, and effectively optimizing it, is going to take more time and work than before.
When you consider how much effort it takes to build an authority site, you also have to realize that the potential gains are greater as well.
An authority site with lots of content means that a visitor may have a wide choice of products to purchase from you. Authority sites give you more possible ways to profit from each visitor than a smaller site such as a mini site.
As we have seen, when deciding between authority sites and mini sites, there’s no simple solution. Of course we also understand that line of thinking, but we would suggest that you diversify your marketing and avoid living your business life according to Google’s terms. Ultimately, the kind of sites you build will depend on your own preferences and objectives.
